Fixed Jack

Open competition, 11 ends, alternating between minimum length and maximum length jacks. Please check rules for this competition as it does not follow EBF rules.

After a scorching few weeks, the start was delayed by rain which fortunately cleared after a few minutes leaving a wet green on which to play which was a bit of an alien concept. As might be expected, Graham settled into the longer jack more quickly than Jim, and after five of the eleven ends, two ends to Graham, two to Jim and one drawn, the players were separated by just four shots, not many when ten shots are on offer per end. As the match progressed, Jim found his mojo on the shorter jacks, switching to backhand, managing to run out the winner after ten of the eleven ends. What really made it special was the number of club members turning out on a wet evening to support the players, thank you to you all. The match was marked by Mark and the trophy presented by John and Mavis, the trophy sponsors.
